Job Description

The Buyer, under general supervision, manages expenditures for materials and/or services to support the company's purchasing programs. The Buyer , under general supervision, is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for indirect materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost quality and at delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.

Essential Functions


  • Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintains close coordination with stakeholders to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine improvement, supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management; negotiates prices and delivery terms with guidance from a senior buyer or the director of purchasing for assigned responsibilities.
  • Manages all procurement activities through the appropriate IT applications.

General and Administrative

  • Supports the corporate vision, mission and values.
  • Local Key user on the Procurement Software.
  • Communicates effectively with various management and operational departments, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that sales and customer objectives are met
  • Compiles and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follows & improve systems and procedures outlined in company manuals
  • Participates as a team player by supporting operations as needed
  • All other duties as requested by management


Job Requirements

Formal Education and Experience

  • Four year college degree from an accredited institution with a major in purchasing
  • Three to five years of purchasing experience required
